Peer Penalty (“we”, “our”, “us”) operates the Peer Penalty mobile app for iOS. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and your choices.
Information we collect
- Account data (optional): If you create an account, we store a username and authentication identifiers through Firebase. Passwords are hashed by Firebase — we never store plaintext passwords.
- Gameplay data: Room codes, display names, game state, and anonymous session identifiers used for multiplayer sync via Supabase.
- Purchases: If you buy premium games, Apple processes payment. RevenueCat provides us entitlement status tied to an anonymous or account-linked ID — not your full payment card details.
- Camera & photos: If you use Camera Man or submit a photo for a picture-based task, images and video are captured on your device. We do not upload Camera Man media to our servers unless you explicitly submit content through an in-app submission flow.
- User submissions: Optional text you submit after games (dares, questions, prompts) for future content curation.
- Reports: If you report a player, we store the report reason and context you provide.
- Device data: Standard app diagnostics from our service providers (Firebase, Supabase, RevenueCat) such as device type and crash logs.
How we use information
- Run multiplayer sessions and sync game state between phones
- Authenticate optional accounts and restore purchases
- Improve game content and respond to abuse reports
- Maintain security and prevent spam or misuse
Third-party services
We use trusted processors that may receive limited data:
- Firebase (Google) — optional account authentication and profile storage
- Supabase — multiplayer backend, submissions, and reports
- RevenueCat — in-app purchase and entitlement management
- Apple — App Store payments and device permissions you approve
Each provider maintains its own privacy policy. We do not sell your personal information.
Permissions
- Notifications: Used only for in-game “Notifications” mode when you start that game. You can deny permission and still use other modes.
- Camera: Used when you choose to capture photos or video as Camera Man or for picture-based tasks during gameplay.
- Photo library: Used when you attach a photo for a picture-based task or save a capture to your library.
Data retention
Multiplayer session data is temporary. Account profiles persist until you delete your account. User submissions and reports may be retained for moderation and content review.
Your rights & choices
- Play without an account (enter a display name on the home screen)
- Delete your account from the in-app Account screen
- Restore purchases via the App Store / in-app Restore Purchases
- Contact us to request access or deletion of data we hold
Children
Peer Penalty is intended for adults 17+. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. Contact us if you believe a child has provided information.
International users
If you use Peer Penalty outside the United States, your data may be processed in the U.S. where our service providers operate.
Changes
We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date will change when we do. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
